Yes, we do allow pets, we just ask guests to inform us when they book and clean up after them inside and outside so that there is no trace of them left behind (including ‘surprises’ on the lawn!)
Is there a ferry to get to Nakusp?
Several routes will require you to take a scenic ferry ride across the Arrow Lakes. The ferries are free and run on standard schedules from 5:00 am to midnight (every 30 min when coming from Kelowna/Vernon, and every 60 minutes when coming from Revelstoke). There is no need to book the ferry, just show up and drive on! The crossing time is ~20 minutes.
How far away from town are you located?
We are located under 5 minutes drive from the town of Nakusp, B.C.
Do I need to stock up on groceries before coming?
Nakusp has a fully stocked Save-On-Foods, a local farm-fresh grocer, two liquor stores, and several convenience stores so it should have you covered unless there is something very specific you are looking for.
Can I drink the tap water?
Yes, the water at our retreats is drinkable straight from the tap. It’s sourced from a very deep well.
Is the internet fast (will it support a work video call)?
Yes, the internet is over 100 MBPS and supports multiple devices, video chats, and streaming. We have many guests that ‘work-from-home’ at our retreats.
Cell reception is spotty at the retreats, however if you are on the Wi-Fi, calls and texts work perfectly. Just be sure to enable Wi-Fi calling on your device.
How long does it take to heat up the fire-heated hot tub and fire-heated sauna?
The hot tub takes between 3-4 hours to heat up to soaking temperatures with good fire management. Once warm, it will heat up quickly for the rest of your stay provided you keep the top on when you are not using it. The sauna heats in 30-60 minutes. Time ranges depend on outdoor temperatures and fire management. Detailed instructions are provided at each retreat.
Yes, we provide firewood free of charge (some axe-splitting may be required for kindling and smaller pieces)
Do you have any recommendations on things to do?
Each of our retreats has a detailed guidebook full of local knowledge and suggestions so you can get the most out of your stay.
Do I need a 4-wheel drive and/or snow tires in winter?
Depending on the time of year and conditions, you may need a 4-wheel drive and snow tires. The roads and our driveways are regularly plowed and under most circumstances, a 2-wheel drive vehicle will be sufficient however being prepared for a snowstorm is the best approach. Remember to check the government regulations as some highways require snow tires at certain times of year. Also, it’s always a good idea to pack a winter safety survival kit anytime you’re driving in the mountains!
If your desired dates are booked, you can email us with the word ‘waitlist’ and desired dates in the subject line. We don’t receive many cancelations, but if we do, we will contact those on our waitlist.
